Why Finland is one the most innovative country in the World?

It's Finland's Independence Day today so good time think about our national assets and competitive edges nowadays. Why Finland is highly rated in global measures about producing new innovations? See e.g. Harvard Business Review and The Economist this year reports.

One reason: Finnish companies and government is putting effort for the future relatively high compared with other European countries measured by R&D expenditure.

Who let the dogs out?

Radio frequency identity tags are all around us. One of its most used applications is the large-scale adaption of micro shipping – implanting RFID tags under the skin of pets. When is time of human kind?

In any case, basically same technology is already used in contactless payments in public transportation. I think that the most robust RFID solutions are in mobile devices and high-value gadgets in next few years.

Still, there are bit wild concepts over the world: http://www.verichipcorp.com/

And the story continues...

Couple days ago I wrote about my enthusiasm for Spotify. Same happens in movie rental also.

Check out SF Anytime service. They are offering access to movie archive by 9,90€ monthly fee (limited access to 25 movies per month).

Unfortunately SF Anytime works only with Microsoft Internet Explorer + Media Player with DRM support. Still, it's first step towards dead end of traditional rental chains like Filmtown or Makuuni if they won't change their business model.
